Empowering young leaders
to shape the future of Ibadan.

The Global Shapers Ibadan Hub is a community of exceptional young leaders committed to driving sustainable impact through innovation, civic engagement, and collaborative action. As part of the World Economic Forum's Global Shapers Community, we develop local solutions to global challenges.

Who we are

A hub of the Global Shapers Community

The Global Shapers Ibadan Hub was founded in 2014 by the late Olufemi Babalogbon. As a hub of the Global Shapers Community, an initiative of the World Economic Forum, we aspire to bring positive change to the city of Ibadan and its environs by taking up transformational projects and events that benefit the local, national and international community at large.

We are a family of passion-driven youth with diverse backgrounds and a shared commitment to development across sectors and improvement at every level. We respond to the challenges around us through research, advocacy, stakeholder engagement, community service and dialogue.

“Committed to improving the state of the world.”

How we work

Grassroots knowledge, global perspective

Every Shaper commits to active participation attending Hub meetings, initiating and delivering projects, and engaging with fellow members of the wider Global Shapers Community across the world. Members lead, and are led, through an elected Curatorship, appointed Hub Officers and dedicated Task Teams.

From city-wide advocacy to hands-on service, we hold ourselves accountable through an annual scorecard, transparent elections, and a Charter that guides how we govern ourselves always in step with the wider Global Shapers Community and the World Economic Forum.

What we work on

Six impact areas, one shared mandate

Every Hub project is designed to sit inside the Global Shapers Community's impact framework and to improve the lives of people outside the Hub, not Shapers themselves.

01

Inclusive communities

Advocating for human rights and disrupting harmful stereotypes around gender, race, sexual orientation and disability.

02

Reskilling for the future

Better education, skills and jobs so no one is left behind, plus digital literacy and online safety for young people.

03

Health & well-being

Working toward health equality, access to services, and stronger youth mental health support across Ibadan.

04

Delivering basic needs

Responding to local disasters and hardship, and taking humanitarian action to support the most vulnerable.

05

Protecting the planet

Reducing emissions, promoting sustainable consumption, and holding leaders accountable on climate action.

06

Civic engagement

Empowering minority leadership, mobilising citizen voting, and encouraging youth representation in decision-making.
